Inventory Power in the Palm of Your Hand

Whether it’s from school-to-school, classroom-to-classroom, or school-to-home with students, resources move around a lot during a school year. With the end of another year right around the corner, it’s time to find out what you still have in your schools, and what may be missing or misplaced. The Inventory feature in Destiny® makes it quick and easy to tell you what books and materials you have, and where they are (or should be).

Within Destiny Library Manager or Resource Manager, the Inventory feature is located under Back Office > Inventory.

From here you can run a full or partial inventory by selecting limiters to include only the materials that you need to know about. In Library Manager, filters include sublocation and call number ranges. Resource Manager enables you to filter by department, home location or branch(es) of the resource tree. After selecting your inventory criteria, click “Start New” to begin the inventory process.

To make the Inventory process even easier, and to provide access to Destiny Back Office capabilities on the go, Follett recently introduced a new companion hardware device for Destiny, the Follett Destiny® VersaScan. One of the key features of the Destiny VersaScan is the integrated inventory feature that provides all of the power and flexibility of the Back Office Inventory feature, but from the palm of your hand. Combined with its fast and accurate barcode scanner, the Destiny VersaScan makes completing inventories within and across schools a snap.

Getting an accurate count of your materials is essential to accountability and financial responsibility. Destiny’s Inventory feature is designed to make this as easy and quick as possible.

Happy scanning!
