Follett, Kimono Announce Renewal of Integration Partnership

McHenry, IL and Salt Lake City, UT — Follett, a leading content, technology, and services provider to PreK-12 schools and districts, and Kimono, the leader in cloud-based data integration for schools, announced today they have renewed their partnership.

The partnership, entering its fifth year, enables Follett customers to enjoy seamless integration with their market-leading Destiny solution. The integration enables students to begin their library experience without delay and saves district staff from having to carry out time-consuming updates.

Recently, Kimono launched a hosted version of the solution, offering Destiny users a cloud-based option that is faster and even more reliable. Louisa County Public Schools in Mineral, Va., utilizes the hosted version of the Follett Destiny integration.

“The Destiny integration from Kimono has been solid – really something we can rely on working and nothing we ever have to troubleshoot,” says Damian Bailey, the district’s coordinator of technology services. “It’s critical that integrations work consistently so that IT staff can focus on helping the district utilize educational resources rather than troubleshooting.”

As the original interoperability solution in K12 education, the SIF (Schools Interoperability Framework) Specification and its parent standards organization, the A4L (Access 4 Learning) Community, remains a mainstay for many districts nationally and internationally. The latest version of SIF readily supports modern, API-based communication among systems, delivering a new generation of open ecosystems that empower education.

Utilizing SIF, the integration keeps student and staff information up to date in Destiny and publishes circulation data for each student back to student information system.

“Follett’s customers are diverse, but they all want seamless integration between Destiny and their other data systems,” said George Gatsis, Senior Vice President of Technology Platforms, Follett. “The Follett-Kimono partnership is unique in terms of the technology it uses, leveraging SIF to ensure the seamless data flow between Destiny and other education data systems.”

Destiny provides library automation, textbook management, and asset management capabilities to more than 65,000 schools nationally and internationally.

“Follett has been one of our key partners these past five years,” said Steve Curtis, CEO, Kimono. “We’re looking forward to expanding that partnership to include new technology approaches and integrations for additional products.”
