Bringing Reading to Life Part II: Making and Technology

OCT

05

In the second in a series of three short presentations, Shannon McClintock Miller will share engaging ways you can bring reading to life for your students. You'll learn how to create amazing spaces and experiences within your library and throughout the school community to boost students' motivation and excitement to read.

There are so many engaging and wonderful ways to bring reading to life for students, teachers, and families within the library and school community. One approach is to cultivate amazing places in our libraries and classrooms for making through Makerspaces and opportunities using technology.

This fall, join Van Meter, Iowa, district teacher librarian and Future Ready Librarians® spokesperson Shannon McClintock Miller as she breaks down the special ways you can bring reading to life in a series of three short webinars.

In the second webinar in the series, "Bringing Reading to Life Part II: Making and Technology," Miller will share ideas, strategies, and tips on how to bring literacy to life through making and with digital tools and apps in a fun, creative, and exciting session. This fast-paced presentation will be filled with project ideas, wonderful books that encourage making, meaningful moments to tie in STEAM, and so much more. She will leave you inspired to bring making to your classroom and library through literacy every day too.

In this webinar, you will learn:
  • How to make your library a special place for all readers by offering Makerspaces and opportunities to use technology
  • Ideas on how to make picture and chapter books fit into these opportunities and Makerspaces
  • Ways to integrate STEM and STEAM topics into learning
  • How to spread the love of reading throughout the school in unique and meaningful ways
Register for any of Miller's presentations. If you cannot attend, you will receive a link to the recording(s) and can watch at your convenience.
